Client: BMA
1. Project Background
BMA required a custom jacking frame for the bridge reclaimer RC131 to facilitate safe and efficient maintenance operations. CMP Engineers were engaged to deliver a solution that would meet stringent operational and safety requirements. The project involved engineering design, finite element analysis, and manufacturing oversight.
2. Challenge
The main challenge was to design a jacking system that could safely lift and support the heavy bridge reclaimer during maintenance, while ensuring compliance with relevant standards and site constraints. The system needed to be robust, easy to install, and capable of handling significant loads. Constraints included limited site access, tight timelines, and the need for thorough testing and certification.
3.Solution
CMP Engineers developed a comprehensive solution, including:
- Preliminary and Detailed Design: Engineering and finite element analysis of the jacking frame, with options for jacking off the ground and off the trolley structure.
- Component Selection: Specification of jacking beams, link rods, turnbuckles, hydraulic cylinders, and lugs, with all components designed for high load capacity and safety.
- Manufacturing Oversight: Detailed costing, supplier selection, and project management to ensure timely delivery and quality control.
- Testing and Certification: Non-destructive testing (NDT) and visual inspection of welds, with compliance to AS/NZS 1554.1:2014 and ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
- Surface Protection and Load Identification: Application of protective coatings and clear load identification markings on all critical components.
